BANGOR – Janice May Scott, 65, passed away Monday, July 11, 2005, in Bangor, after a two-year battle with breast cancer. She lived all over the country, but New York City, where she was born May 10, 1940, will always be her “hometown.” She is survived by her husband, Nicholas Scott; son and daughter-in-law, Reed and Erica Farrar; daughter and son-in-law, Helene Farrar and Stan Farrell; grandchildren, Tommy and Gracie Farrar; sister, Lola Felden; and stepchildren, Peter, Garet and Sarah Scott and their families. Janice led an extraordinary life of joy and adventure. She graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington in 1988. A successful abstract artist, Janice created many vivid paintings that celebrated the beauty and quirkiness of life. Some of her favorite subjects included cows, the Farmington Diner, and the women of Renys. She also volunteered to help the mentally ill, elderly, and people suffering from AIDS and cancer. A celebration of Janice’s life will be held 6 p.m. Friday, July 22, at the Union Street Brick Church in downtown Bangor. For more information please email thefarrars@midmaine.com
