MILLINOCKET – Janis R. Saulajs, 95, passed away, Monday, July 11, 2005, at a local healthcare facility. He was born in Riga, Latvia, Europe, Aug. 1, 1909, the son of Karlis and Jule (Piegavs) Saulais. John moved from Latvia to the United States with his wife, Otilija A. Saulajs in 1950. They moved to Millinocket in 1955 where he worked as a grinder man at Great Northern Paper Company, retiring in 1973. John enjoyed flower gardening and had a beautiful garden in his backyard. He is survived by his two very dear friends, Jack and Dawn Hale of Millinocket. He was predeceased by his wife, Otilija, in September 1993. Friends may call R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, with the Rev. Rudy Homchuck.
