HOULTON – Jean B. Tidd, 91, went to be with her Lord, Jan. 16, 2007, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. She was born July 15, 1916, the daughter of Bert and Gertrude (Wheeler) Brewer in Cary. Jean grew up in Houlton, married and lived in Cary for 67 years. She worked for several years at Houlton Shoe Factory and Houlton Glove Factory. She was a very loving and caring mother, raising her own children while caring for her younger brother and some grandchildren along the way, never complaining. She attended Cary Baptist Church before moving in to Ricker Plaza, which she loved dearly, where she lived for 12 years. It was then that she started attending Military Street Baptist Church. Jean enjoyed visiting with all her friends and neighbors in the dining room and sitting in the hall gossiping about life to weather, especially with close friend, Dot on Sunday evenings. She looked forward to going out for rides, dinners, ice cream and the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all 80 plus of them. She is survived by her daughters, Arlene and her husband, Shirley Cleary, of Cary, Geraldine and her companion, Junior Richardson, of Houlton; sons, Elwood and Dina Tidd of Houlton, Francis and Diana Tidd of Oklahoma City; daughters-in-law, Marilyn of Houlton, Irene of Lawton, Okla., and Cristine of Houlton; her sister-in-law, Margerite Brewer of Maryland; too many grandchildren, great-grand-children, great-great-grand-children, nieces and nephews to list. She was predeceased by her parents; her best friend and husband, Allie; three sons, Robert of Oklahoma, Philip and Glen, both of Houlton; daughter-in-law, Kathy of Houlton; all her brothers and sisters. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her especially, Dina, who loved and cared for her like her own mother. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Military Street Baptist Church, with Pastor Randall Burns officiating. A time of fellowship will be at the church fellowship hall, immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the charity of one’s choice. Spring interment will be at Hodgdon Cemetery. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home.
