SKOWHEGAN – Jean Paul Fortin, 77, passed away peacefully Nov. 4, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 15, 1929, in St. George, Quebec the son of Armely and Yvonne (Drouen) Fortin. He graduated from Brother of Trinity, Montreal. He married the former Marie Quirion June 22, 1957, in St. George, Quebec. Jean worked at Woodtek, North Anson, as yard foreman for 25 years. He then went to work for Goodine’s Truck Service, working in the parts department for 26 years. He is a third and fourth degree knight of the Knights of Columbus, Skowhegan; a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Skowhegan; and a past member of the Eagles Club, Skowhegan. He loved working in his garage, enjoyed gardening and mostly loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marie Fortin of Skowhegan; five children, Steve Fortin and his wife, Penny, of Norridgewock, Joan Burnham of Skowhegan, Mona Fortier of Skowhegan, Mark Fortin and his wife, Crystal, of Norridgewock and Michelle Fortin of Skowhegan; four grandchildren, Jason, Randi, Whitney and Jillian; two great-grandchildren, Miriah and Ben; 11 brothers and sisters, which includes his special twin brother, all of Canada and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters; and a son-in-law, Wayne Burnham. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water Street, Skowhegan. Interment will be held after the service at Calvary Cemetery, Skowhegan.
