CALAIS – Jean Ruth (Clark) Hume, 70, died April 20, 2004, after a long illness. A life-long resident of Calais, she was a member of the United Methodist Church and an active member of the community. Some of her favorite past times were working at the food pantry, making crafts for craft fairs, helping others and spending time with her family. She is predeceased by her parents, Myrtle and Lewis Clark; her husband, Phillip B. Hume; her nephew, David Clark; and her good friend, Irene Chadbourne. She is survived by her four children, Paul Hume of Las Vegas, Nev., Nancy McKeown of Calais, Sylvia Estey of Zealand, New Brunswick, Andrea McCaffrey of Moores Mills, New Brunswick; her sister, Shirley Winslow of Las Vegas, Nev.; her brothers, Robert Clark of Charlotte, N.C., Richard Clark of Merrimack, N.H.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews. She will be remembered fondly by all that knew her. The memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Calais. A graveside service will follow at the Calais Cemetery. There will also be a reception at the Calais Methodist Homes Recreation Center. Friends and family are welcome. The family requests that all donations be sent to the Calais United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the care of Cremation Services of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
