HOULTON – Jeane A. Rush, 96, died April 28, 2006, at a local healthcare facility. She was born Aug. 12, 1909, at Monticello, the daughter of Beecher and Winifred (Jewel) Cullins. Jeane was a resident of Monticello and for the last six years, Madigan House. She received the Gold Cane Award for being the oldest living citizen of Monticello in 2004. She was a member of Monticello Community Wesleyan Church, a member of the Monticello Senior Citizens and the Monticello Grange. She is survived by two daughters, Zona Simmons and her husband, Carrol Browne Simmons, of Elkins, W.Va., Avery Evans and her husband, Jean Evans, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six granddaughters, 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two half sisters, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald Rush; her son, Dale Rush, two infant sisters, four half sisters and two half brothers. Friends may call at the Dunn Funeral Home Tuesday noon until the time of service 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jeremiah Gomaz officiating. Interment will be in Jewell Cemetery.
