JEANNE (DUFOUR) MARQUIS Fort Kent – Jeanne (Dufour) Marquis, 89, died May 10, 2004, at a Fort Kent healthcare facility. She was born Sept. 27, 1914, in Fort Kent, the daughter of George and Alice (Babin) Dufour. Jeanne owned and operated a grocery store in Fort Kent until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the C.O.F. both of Fort Kent. She will be remembered and missed for her generous spirit. She was an avid Charlemagne Player and quilter. She also taught her daughters how to embroider. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Alphie of Rockville, Conn., and Paul of Fort Kent; four daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Jeanne) Banville of Rockville, Conn., Mrs. Clarence (Theresa) Lewis of Manchester, Conn., Miss Lucille Toussaint of Fort Kent, and Mrs. Peter (Rita) Desjardins of Lewiston; four brothers, Bertrand of Orono, Philip of Nevada, Albert of Florida, and Patrick of Old Town; two sisters, Priscilla Lamare of St. Agatha, and Leone Pelletier of Orono; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to both her parents, she was predeceased by four sisters, Aline Roy, Lea Barbar, Sadie Dufour and Annette Dufour; two brothers, Alphie and Edmund Dufour. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home in Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Fort Kent, with the Rev. Claude Gendreau officiating. Committal services will follow in the parish cemetery. In her memory, those who wish may donate to the St. Louis Renovation Fund, 26 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743.
