EASTPORT – Jelaine A. “Fred” Ritchie, 46, died unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at her home. Fred was born April 15, 1961, in Orleans, France, daughter of James Stanhope and Joan Emery. She married James Ritchie August 1976, in Eastport. Fred enjoyed dancing, bingo and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her sense of humor. Fred was predeceased by her father, James Stanhope; and a sister, Janice McPhail. Surviving are her husband of more than 31 years, James; three children, Jessica Diffin and her husband, Randy, of Barrington, N.H., Brian Ritchie and his wife, Janice, of Perry and Tara Ritchie and her fianc?, Steve Townsend, of Eastport; her mother, Joan and her husband, Eugene, of Perry; two sisters, Julie McPhail and her husband, Angus, of Perry and Jamie Roy and her husband, Arthur, of Hampden; four brothers, James “Butch” Stanhope and his wife, Vicki, of Eastport, John Stanhope and his wife, Carrie, of Dennysville, Jeff Stanhope and his wife, Kahlua, of Perry and Joel “Charlie” Stanhope and his wife, Heather, of Perry; two grandchildren, Samantha Ritchie and Tegan Townsend; and her mother-in-law, Betty Ritchie of Eastport. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Hillside Cemetery.
