PELHAM, MASS. – Dr. Jennifer L. Pinkham, 49, of Gulf Road, Pelham, died Feb. 1, 2005, at home after a long illness. She was born Sept. 16, 1955, in Bangor, the daughter of E. Randall and Theresa Pinkham of Fort Kent. Dr. Pinkham grew up in Fort Kent, and graduated from Fort Kent High School in 1973. She was a 1977 graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, and received her PhD from Yale University in New Haven, Conn., in 1983. Dr. Pinkham completed her postdoctoral studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass. in 1986. She was currently a research faculty member and instructor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Dr. Pinkham was honored by the National Science Foundation Visiting Professorship for Women. In addition to her parents, Jennifer leaves her husband, Martin Weinberg; her cat, Sammi; a sister, Laura Risom of Ridgefield, Conn.; two brothers, Edward R. Pinkham, Jr. of Sharon, Mass.; Andrew A. Pinkham of Somerville, Mass.; three nephews, Ethan and Tucker Risom, and Randall Pinkham; and two nieces, Leah Risom and Gillian Pinkham. Memorial gifts can made be made to the Dr. Jennifer L. Pinkham Scholarship, care of M.S.A.D. No. 7, 23 West Main St., Suite 101, Fort Kent, ME 04743. The scholarship will support college-bound high-school students. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
