MILLINOCKET – Jerome P. O’Kane died March 13, 2008, at Katahdin Nursing Home, Millinocket. He was born April 30, 1928, in Millinocket, the son of Raymond P. and Eva M. (LePage) O’Kane. Jerome served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Jerome was the owner of O’Kane’s Electronic Service for many years before going to work at Great Northern Paper as an electrician, retiring in 1993. Jerome was known to many as the local locksmith, radio and TV repairman, always changing locks or repairing something electronic. Some people will remember him as the “Oldtimer” from his CB days or the person who provided several years of fireworks displays for the community. Jerome was a member of American Legion, Fin and Feather Club, and search and rescue team. He was a past president of Fire Road 17 Road Association, enjoyed reading, his computer and spending time at camp with his family on Ambajejus Lake. Surviving Jerome are his three daughters and son-in-law, Delores C. Pineau and husband, Bernard, Carol J. Gallant and Marjorie R. O’Kane; his two grandsons, Benjamin A. Gallant and Michael T. York Jr. He will be fondly remembered by his family of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Alice M. (McDougall); a son, Jerome Jr. “Joey”; and brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Francis Raymond and Marjorie O’Kane. A memorial is planned for the spring and will be announced at a later date.
