WATAUGA, Tenn. – Jim Goodine of 1980 Bristol Hwy., Watauga, Tenn., died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at his residence. He was a native of Caribou and the son of the late Frank and Millie Campbell Goodine. He was a member of the Fellowship Community Church. He was a maintenance supervisor for J.M. Huber Corp. in Spring City, Tenn., and Easton. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Alton Bragg. Survivors include his wife, Lois Goodine, of the home; one daughter, Jodi Lynn Umphrey of Elizabethton, Tenn.; one son, James Goodine II of Presque Isle; one granddaughter, Madisyn Paige “Sweet Pea” Umphrey of Elizabethton, Tenn.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Gloria and Leigh Thompson of Caribou, Nancy Thompson of Washburn, Dawn and David King of Cove Coral, Fla.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Steven and Pam Goodine of Bangor, Frank “Rocky” and Gail Goodine of Victor, N.Y., Bobby and Ann Goodine of Mars Hill; mother-in-law, Gwen Bragg of Washburn; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Fellowship Community Church, Watauga, Tenn., with the Rev. Ken Houser officiating. Music will be under the direction of the church choir, Ricky Sweeney and Mary and Carl Kearney. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Scalf Cemetery, Watauga. Active pallbearers will be Don Gouge, Doyle Puckett, Bobby Mottern, Eddie Humphrey, Tracy Humphrey, Richard Ward, Jerry Reece and Raymond Perkinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Sheryl Pack and Dr. James Shipley. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Fellowship Community Church at 9:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
