HAMPDEN – Joan Barbara (Ferguson) Tribou, 73, wife of the late Edward “Bud” Tribou, passed away Oct. 17, 2003, surrounded by her family at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Houlton March 6, 1930, the daughter of Carl R. and Barbara (Murray) Ferguson. Joan had lived in Hampden for most of her life and had worked with her husband for many years at River City Glass Co. of Hampden. She was an active member and past president of the Whitcomb-Baker V.F.W. Post No. 4633 Ladies Auxiliary of Hampden. Joan enjoyed quilting, camping and ceramics. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who always enjoyed having a good time and laughter. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, “Bud,” in 2002; and by her parents and a sister, Pauline Ferguson. Joan is survived by two daughters, Paula E. Babcock and her husband, Dennis, of Newburgh, and Barbara A. Murray of Hampden; three sons, John E. Tribou and his wife, Gail, of Hampden, Timothy A. Tribou and his wife, Jacqueline, of Newburgh, and Steven R. Tribou of Hampden; three brothers, Irvin Ferguson of Florida, Charles Ferguson of Tennessee, and Carroll Ferguson of Hartford; grandchildren, Allen, Brent and Heather Babcock, Greg and Jim Tribou, Whitney Tribou, Amanda Tribou and Emily and Sarah Murray; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler and Kyle Babcock; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where the officers and members of the Ladies Auxiliary will conduct an evening memorial service at 7 p.m. Monday. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Dick Woehr, director of Inter-Church Ministries, officiating. Interment will be private at Locust Grove Cemetery, Hampden. Joan’s family would appreciate contributions in her memory be made to the Whitcomb-Baker Auxiliary, V.F.W.
