ENFIELD, Conn. – Joseph V. Leonard, 74, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford, Conn. He was the beloved husband of 45 years to Margot E. (Stoertz) Leonard of Enfield, Conn., who survives him. Born in West Enfield, Maine, he was the son of the late Francis V. and Odella (Shorette) Leonard. A resident of the Enfield, Conn. community since 1971, he was an honorably discharged veteran of both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He worked as a foreman for various industrial companies, retiring in 1991. Mr. Leonard was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, in Enfield, for more than 30 years. Since his retirement he enjoyed gardening, researching his Irish heritage on the computer and the subject of the Irish Saints. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, his son, Thomas L. Leonard and his wife, Therese of Cambridge, Mass.; his daughters, Rita E. Williams and her husband, Ted of Weare, N.H., Laura M. Zeppetelli and her husband, William, of Cambridge, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Jessica and Dean Williams; seven brothers, Eugene Leonard of Inverness, Fla., Vaughn Leonard of West Enfield, Maine, Gerald and Dennis Leonard, both of Lincoln, David Leonard of LaGrange, Michael Leonard of Woodlawn, William Leonard of Enfield, Maine; two sisters, Patricia Shorey of Burlington, Marie Leonard of Dover-Foxcroft, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Leonard. Funeral services will begin 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, from Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, Conn., followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield, Conn. Burial with military honors will take place immediately following the Mass in Saint Patrick’s King Street Cemetery, Rt. 5, Enfield, Conn. The Leonard family will receive relatives and friends during calling hours, 4- 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels.
