MATTAWAMKEAG – John Craig Jr., 62, died Aug. 4, 2008, at a Lincoln hospital, after a four and one half year battle with cancer. He was born April 23, 1946, in Brookton, the son of the late John Craig Sr. and Margaret (Moore) Craig. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, John B. Craig III. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cheryl Craig of Mattawamkeag. He leaves behind a daughter, Melissa and her husband, Timothy Cooper, of Mattawamkeag. He also leaves two very special grandchildren, Mariah and Matthew Cooper, whom he loved dearly and cherished every moment with. He is also survived by two brothers, Gerald and his wife, Elaine, of Lincoln and Stephen and his wife, Jan, of Connecticut; two sisters, Eva Lee of Hermon and Patricia Wing and her husband, Scott, of Mattawamkeag; two special brothers-in-law, Ray Moore and his wife, Carolyn and Guy Moore and his wife, Myrna, all of Mattawamkeag; two special aunts, Theresa Walton of Brookton and Beatrice Nichols of Lincoln; two special girls, Casey and Ronnie-Jo, who loved “Uncle” very much; many nieces and nephews who will miss “Uncle Bun” very much. He also leaves many cousins and will be sadly missed by all the family. He also leaves his cats, Beau and Angel, who gave him a great deal of comfort and entertainment. He enjoyed going to all of Mariah’s softball and baseball games. Whatever activities his grandchildren were involved in, he was there. He enjoyed renting a camp and taking the whole family fishing. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gerald Craig officiating.
