GREEN LAKE, DEDHAM – John G. Dunning Jr., 67, of Green Lake, died Feb. 1, 2004, while vacation-ing in Nassau, Bahamas. He was born in Bangor, Aug. 25, 1936, the son of John Garland Dunning Sr. and Caroline Anne Collins. John graduated from Bangor High School and MCI Prep. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a flight mechanic. He had been vice-president of R.B. Dunning Company, where he had worked for 34 years. Upon retiring he worked at E.G. Jordan, Bar Harbor, and Redlon-Johnson Company, Bangor. He worked seasonally the last two years at YMCA Camp Jordan, where he was affectionately known as “Buzz.” John was a member of Rising Virtue Lodge No. 10, Scottish Rite Valley of Bangor and Maine Consistory. He was a dedicated member of Anah Temple Keystone Cops. John loved everyone, particularly children of all ages. He always attempted to connect with people through his wonderful sense of humor and willingness to help in any way. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Frances Ann (Dunning) Dunning; his children, John G. Dunning III, Kelley Dunning Andrews and spouse, Daniel, Scott Collins Dunning and spouse, Holly, Ninh Dinh Nguyen and spouse, Mia Jo. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Samantha Adair Nguyen, MacKenzie Rae Dunning, Zachary Scott Dunning, and Jack Ryan Dunning; sister, Sandra Garland Shubert; and brother Tyler Collins Dunning; several cousins, particularly Diane Dunning Almeter, Steven Dunning, Carol Collins Shanley, Thomas, Neil and Gillis Daley and their mother, Mary Daley. He will also be missed by a multitude of good friends. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where Masonic Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Richard C. McLaughlin, pastor, celebrant. Interment will be in the Dunning Family Lot at Mount Hope Cemetery.
