BANGOR – John W. Bonneau, 85, went home to be with the Lord, Nov. 8, 2007, with family by his side, at a Bangor heath care facility. Born May 19, 1922, in Old Town, he was the son of Walter H. Sr. and Florence (Tupper) Bonneau. John was a professional musician with the Green Valley Boys, Lone Mountain Pioneers and played on the radio. He taught music at Viners Music, Bangor, for many years. He was a life member of the Old Town Knights of Columbus and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor. He was a devote Christian and had a personal relationship to his Savior. John enjoyed listening to WKIT 100.3 radio station and watching the Red Sox on television. He often talked about the Red Sox with the staff at Eastside Rehabilitation, especially with Carlene. He loved to take long walks, playing solitaire, a good joke and playing the lottery. He looked forward to visits from his sister, Joan and her husband, Bill; and his niece, Bonnie and her husband, Allan. John especially enjoyed his exchanges with Allan of good-natured jokes. He enjoyed playing “Gee Your Brain Smells Good” with niece, Pat, and was proud of winning a $50 jewelry gift certificate to purchase her the necklace her cross now hangs on. John was predeceased by his parents; three sisters, Frances Turner, Delorise Maheu and Eula Miles; one brother, Walter Bonneau Jr.; one nephew, Edward Bonneau; and one brother-in-law, Malcolm Maheu. He is survived by one sister, Joan Najjar and her husband, Bill, of Woburn, Mass.; four nieces, Patricia Bonneau of Old Town, Bonnie Harris and her husband, Allan, of Old Town, Dodie Belle and her husband, Derwood “Doodie,” of Milford and Deborah Gay and her husband, Francis, of South Berlington, Vt.; one nephew, Stephen Najjar of Weare, N.H.; along with many great-nephews and great- nieces. The family thanks all the staff at Eastside Rehabilitation and Living Center for all their loving care. John’s niece, Pat, thanks Paula from Activites and Linda from nursing for their support and strength during this difficult time. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Holy Family Parish, Old Town. Burial will be after at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Old Town.
