GLENBURN – Joseph “Frank” Franklin Jordan, 87, died peacefully Sept. 9, 2005, surrounded by his loving family at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 25, 1918, in Bucksport, the son of William E. and Clara F. (Gatchell) Jordan. Frank worked for many years for Hasey Main Stages, a commercial bus company, and for Roland Kenneths as a meat cutter. He resided for many years in Belfast area working as a butcher. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing his guitar and harmonica at family gatherings. He looked forward to his hunting trips with his sons and nephews. Frank was a long time member of the Messiah Baptist Church in Bangor which he considered his extended family and was thankful for the loving care and friendship of Tonia Phillips and the Rev. Buddy Franklin. He recently celebrated his 87th birthday and thoroughly enjoyed being with his family for this event. Frank was predeceased by two wives, Gladys Decker Jordan and Vivian Pomeroy Jordan; an identical twin brother, Richard G. Jordan; five other brothers and five sisters. He is survived by five children, Janice Hebert and husband, Mel, of Nashua, N.H., Elaine Katen and husband, George, of Brewer, Gloria Shaw and husband, Howard, of Millinocket, Joe Jordan and wife, Cathy, of Clifton, David Jordan and wife, Kelly, of Holden; favorite nephews, Bob Jordan and wife, Melissa, and Phil Jordan, who were like sons to him; 11 very special grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and his companion, Betty Robinson who he enjoyed going on his daily rides with. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street Bangor. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Messiah Baptist Church, 985 Union St., Bangor, with Rev. Herman C. Frankland, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, La Grange, following the service. Gifts in his memory may be made to the Messiah Baptist Church, 985 Union St., Bangor, ME 04401.
