PEMAQUID – Josephine Church Young, 71, died late on the afternoon of Aug. 13, 2004, at Cove’s Edge Nursing Home, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Jonesport, Oct. 18, 1932, the daughter of Freddie and Josie Church. She attended school in Jonesport and graduated from Jonesport High, Class of 1950, with honors. She spent most of her career working in the financial sector. Employed at businesses as far south as Virginia, she retired in 1991. Mrs. Young was predeceased by her husband, Col. Clifton H. Young, in 1995. She is survived by her son, Donald F. Drisko and his companion, Laurie Crane, of New Harbor; and her daughter, Mona Alley and her husband, Tim, of Walpole. She is also survived by a sister, Ramona C. Alley and her husband, Sidney, of Washburn; a brother, Freddie Church Jr. and his wife, June, of Merrimac, N.H.; four grandchildren, Luke and Sarah Alley of Walpole, Hayley and Jessica Drisko of New Harbor and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Young will be laid to rest, privately, with her parents, Aug. 19, at the Green-wood Cemetery, Jonesport. Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of the Strong Funeral Home and Memorial Center, 612 Main St., Damariscotta.
