LUCERNE – Joyce N. Higgins, 80, wife of the late John H. Higgins, died May 2, 2007, at her home on Philips Lake, Lucerne. She was born Jan. 13, 1927, in Bangor, the daughter of Clifford and Winona F. (Sawyer) Neil. Joyce was a dedicated home-maker who enjoyed gardening, sewing, tending to her flower gardens and the company of her cats. She was a wonderful, caring and loving mother and grandmother, who will be missed by all who knew her. Surviving are one son, John E. Higgins and his wife, Nadine, of Orrington; two grandchildren, Renee Lozon and her husband, Joe, of Princeton, N.J., and Monica Higgins of Colchester, Vt.; one brother, Edward Neil and his wife, Winona, of Bangor; and two nieces, Debbie and Winona. She will be missed by her dog, Princess. Joyce’s family thanks Ruth Bowman, Laurie Gauthier, and Edna Senter for being such wonderful, loving caregivers. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer. A committal and burial service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the chapel of the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
