LUBEC – Julia Searles, 79, passed away at her home after an extended illness. She as born June 1, 1926, in Lubec, the third child of Daniel Adams and Elizabeth (Craney) Tinker. She left Lubec in 1950 and moved to Meriden, Conn. From 1951 until she retired in 1989 she was employed at Pratt and Whitney in New Haven, Conn. She was a life member of Union Lodge No. 707. She returned to Lubec in 1991, and until her illness, enjoyed many activities among them spending time with family, friends and taking long walks with her dog, Rusty. She was predeceased by her two oldest daughters, Linda May Searles and Margaret Alice (Searles) Justasy. She is survived by her youngest daughter,Nancy Lee Matarazzo and her husband, Michael, of Shenandoah, Va.; one sister, Beverly (Tinker) Calder of Lubec; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four nieces and six nephews. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29 at the Christian Temple Church with the Pastor Gary Look officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of ones choice. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Lubec.
