BANGOR – Julia E. Mooney passed away Sunday, April 29, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Feb. 27, 1913, in Bangor, the daughter of Patrick J. and Mary Agnes (Shaughnessy) Mooney. She was a graduate of John Bapst High School and the Maine School of Commerce, now Husson College. Upon graduation, she worked for the State of Maine Department of Health and Welfare, now the Department of Human Services, until her retirement in 1975. Julia was a lifelong communicant of St. John’s Catholic Church, a member of St. John’s Council of Catholic Women, Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery Angels, the Maine Association of Retirees, and the Maine State Employees Association Retired. She leaves her devoted sister, Teresa R. Mooney of Bangor; nieces and nephews, Edward, Patrick Stephen, Mary Julia, Daniel, Cathy, Ann, Patricia, Michael, Mary Patricia, Patrick Joseph, Jeannie, Mary Margaret, Madonna, James A., Francis, Claire, Thomas, and Matthew; great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Margaret J. Mooney, Catherine M. Mooney, Mary Agnes Richard, Josephine P. Morris, John E. Mooney, Thomas P. Mooney, Daniel F. Mooney, James A. Mooney Sr. and Edward M. Mooney; niece, Margaret M. Morris; and nephew, James A. Morris. Friends may call 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Foley Funeral Home, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be concelebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor, with the Rev. Robert J. Regan, S.J., and the Very Rev. Richard C. McLaughlin, pastor, presiding. Interment in the family lot will be immediately after at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, 449 Ohio St., Bangor. Donations in Julia’s memory may be made to St. Joseph Hospital, 360 Broadway, Bangor, ME 04401 or St. John’s Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 207 York St., Bangor, ME 04401.
