LUBEC – Julian E. Mulholland, 90, died Dec. 21, 2003, at a Bangor Hospital. He was born July 17, 1913, in Lubec, the son of Charles and Mary (McCurdy) Mulholland. Julian attended Lubec High School, Class of 1930, and was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church of Lubec and a World War II Coast Guard veteran. He and his brother John owned and operated Mulhollands’ Market in Lubec, until his retirement in 1963. He was a past member of the Lubec Board of Selectmen, a past member of the P. Gillis Council K of C No. 100 of Lubec, and a life member of the John F. Kennedy Post No. 6 Disabled American Veterans. He was predeceased by his wife, Rachel P. (Findlay) Mulholland; and daughter, Pamela; his brothers, Harold and John. Surviving are Betty Jo Brine and her husband, Ed, of Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada, Harold C. Mulholland and his wife, Margot, of Baileyville, Bruce J. Mulholland and his wife, Paulette, of Cathance Lake Plt. No. 14; one sister, Elizabeth C. Mulholland of Lubec and Machias; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Lubec with the Rev. Michael Sheridan, celebrant. Burial will be in the Olson Cemetery, Lubec. Donations in Julian’s memory may be made to the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Lubec, ME 04652. Funeral arrangements are by the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais.
