JACKSONVILLE – Kate D. Holmes, 92, passed away April 5, 2005, at Marshall Health Care Facility after an extended illness. She was born March 7, 1913, in Jacksonville, the daughter of the late Mark D. and Lottie D. (Cook) Dowling. Kate worked at the blueberry factory. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and crafts. She is survived by her daughter, Marian A. Roberts, and special grandson, Warren L. Gray, both of Jacksonville; daughter, Louise H. Huntley and husband, Darrell, of Portland and their children, Richard, Peggy, and Norma; special friends, relatives, Katherine Jones, Ada Seavey, Ida Gardiner, Lorraine Blyther, along with other nieces and nephews, and beloved cat, Duddy. Kate was predeceased by her husband, Frank L. Holmes; four sisters, Julia, Lori, Mamie, and Minnie; and two brothers, John and William. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at Jacksonville Cemetery with Pastor Bill Holmes, officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias.
