NEW SWEDEN and MIAMI, Fla. – Katharine Wilhomina Anderson MacFadden, 87 died Aug. 29, 2004, at her Miami residence. She was born Aug. 19, 1917, in New Sweden, the daughter of Hans and Minna (Bingston) Anderson. She attended school in New Sweden, was a graduate of Caribou High School and was a member of the Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church in her younger years. Following graduation Kay moved to Massachusetts where she was employed by the Norton Co. during World War II. She then moved to Miami where she was employed by the Dade County Court System for several years. She married F. Pierce MacFadden who predeceased her. Kay had many interests. She truly loved her roses and rose garden and served as president of the Miami Rose Society. She served on the Board of Directors of the AARP and attended St. Mark’s as well as Emmanuel Lutheran Churches in Miami. She is survived by a stepson, Frank MacFadden of Denver, Colo.; her niece, Arline Johnson Ferguson of New Sweden; two great-nieces, Sandra Ferguson and Colleen Macklin; one great-niece and great-nephew, Nicholas and Makayla Macklin. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, from the Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church with the Rev. Peter Drever, officiating. Interment will be in the New Sweden Cemetery.
