HOWLAND – Kathleen E. (Ashe) Waddell, 89, died peacefully Oct. 22, 2005, at Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln. She was born July 18, 1916, in Greenbush, the daughter of Chester and Affie (Madden) Ashe. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur F. DeVoe. Ma, Grammie, Great Gram and Kathleen, you touched our lives with your spirit and your love of life. Your smile was infectious to all and you will always be our angel with the sunlight shining through your hair. We will smile as we remember the things we did together and you will be with us always as our guardian angel. We love you. She will be missed deeply by her daughter, Nancy DeVoe Carson and her companion, Dwight Sapiel, of Greenbush; her son, Gary DeVoe and his wife, Julie, of Gorham; and a daughter, Kathleen DeVoe of Waterford, Conn. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Marisa Carson Nadeau and her husband, Joey, Milford, Jim Carson and his wife, Allison, of Old Town, Jon Carson, Milford, Dean DeVoe, Sanford, Matthew DeVoe, Hollis, Krista Nadeau, Gorham, Mark DeVoe, Naples, Donald Normandeau, Cornish, Kathy Dorsey, Hendersonville, Tenn., Darin Normandeau, Waterford, Conn., Jennifer Sapiel Neptune, of Old Town. Special memories will always be remembered by her great-grandchildren, Tia Howe, of Durham, Taryn Nadeau, of Lisbon Falls, Summer and Sierra Carson, of Old Town, Nathan Carson, of Orrington, Desiree Normandeau, of Cornish, Gregory Dorsey, of Westbrook Allysa and Samantha Dorsey, of Hendersonville, Tenn., Luke and Cole Nadeau, of Gorham, Garret M. DeVoe, of Hollis, Garret Edward DeVoe, of Sanford, Savannah and Marcus, of Naples; great-great-grandchildren, Hunter and Eliza Howe, of Durham. This was one of her proudest moments when she made it to five generations twice; remembered by her stepchildren their spouses, and families, Ronald and Ethel Phinney, of Limington, Bobby and Grace Phinney, of Limerick, Sheila and Felix Otero, of Bryant Pond, Barbara and Manson Smart, of Passadumkeag and Stephen and Marie Waddell, of Bangor; two loving sisters and their families, Althea Calderara and her husband, Bruno, of Quincy, Mass., Zelma and her husband, “Perk,” of Redington Shores, Fla. and a “special” daughter, Ruby Ryder of Milford. Several nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt “Bussie.” She was predeceased by husbands, Kenneth Phinney and Glenwood Waddell; a son, John Arthur DeVoe; a grandson, Gary DeVoe; sisters, Adeline Thompson, Sylvia Abbott; and a brother, Sharland Ashe. She also leaves an extended family at the Cummings Healthcare Facility and a very special caretaker, Heather Grehoski. She appreciated all the staff as they were very good to her. No visitation or memorial services as requested by the family. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be given in her memory to the Cummings Health Care Activity Fund, 5 Crocker Rd., Howland, ME 04448.
