CARMEL – Kathleen Jean (Sutton) Lenfest, 77, of Carmel, died peacefully Thursday morning, May 22, 2008, at home, after a brief illness. She was born March 27, 1931, in Bangor, the daughter of Frank and Nathlene (Page) Winchell. She attended school in Brewer and married Floyd Lenfest in 1952. They lived in the Bangor area for nine years and moved to Brewer, where they built their own home and resided for 26 years before retiring to Carmel, where they have lived for 20 years. Kathleen was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She considered her family her greatest achievement. She was married for 55 years to her husband, and they had five children, 11 grandchildren and four great-grand-children. Kathleen was a vibrant, hard working, very determined woman with a can do attitude, who always put others before herself. She loved her family above all else and considered her children her most precious possession. Kathleen loved her sisters and brothers dearly, and they were very close. Her family ties meant everything to her. Kathleen loved reading, gardening, listening to music, shopping, dabbling in the stock market and working on her computer. She was the original Martha Stewart and could make something beautiful out of nothing. She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved to cook, bake, sew, wallpaper, upholster furniture, and keep a clean, neat and tidy home for her family. She was very generous with her time and she never gave up on anything or anyone. She was also a successful business-woman and co-owned a business with her husband. Kathleen will be deeply missed by all those that had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Nathlene (Page) Winchell; her brothers, Walter Sutton and Frank Winchell; her sister, Jane Lynn (Sutton) Tweedie; and her daughter, Pamela Jo (Lenfest) Martin Clune. Kathleen is survived by her husband, Floyd R. Lenfest of Carmel; her sons, Floyd Lenfest Jr. of Phoenix and Christopher J. Lenfest and his wife, Jody (Theriault), of Columbus, Ohio; her daughters, Carol Somers of Sorrento, Fla., and Lisa Mayo and her husband, Eric, of South Portland; 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Michael, Robert, Floyd, Samuel, Aaron, Melissa, Shannon, Cody and Casey; four great-grandchildren, Chance, Kaleb, Bryce and Isiah; and three dear sisters, Louise Nadeau and her husband, Edward, of Orono, Geri Ferguson and her husband, Joe, of Burton, S.C., and Jackie Andrews and her husband, Micky, of Bangor. Patricia Moore presiding. Private interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kathleen’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
