ORRINGTON – Kathleen M. “Billy” Washburn, 91, wife of the late Robert H. Washburn, died May 25, 2008, at a Brewer, nursing facility. She was born Nov. 6, 1916, in Brewer, the daughter of Arthur I. and Nellie (Rich) Rowe. She was employed with the city of Bangor as a fair coordinator. Billy was a member of Orrington Garden Club and an active member of North Bucksport Grange. She enjoyed helping to write the Orrington Gazette. Surviving are two stepsons, Robert N. Washburn of Brewer and Walter A. Washburn and his wife, Priscilla, of Orrington; grandchildren, Robert Washburn and his wife, Jan, April Herbold and her husband, Seth, Debra Wedge and her husband, Mike, and Cynthia Swift and her husband, Rick; many great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur “Farr” Rowe and his wife, Dot; a sister, Mabel Elizabeth Jacobs of Brewer; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Mary Andrews. She was predeceased by a stepdaughter-in-law, Muriel. Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Carl Schreiber, pastor of East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service at Brookings-Smith, Reception Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Private interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Orrington.
