SEBASTIAN, Fla. – Kenneth George “Ken” Goan, 81, died June 18, 2004, at Atlantic Healthcare of Vero Beach, Fla., following a brief illness. He was born July 14, 1922, in Caribou, and moved to Sebastian, Fla., in 1981, from Presque Isle. Mr. Goan was a retired Civil Service forman and worked in the air condition and electrical department at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone. He was an active member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for 15 years. He was a member and a Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and he was a past Grand Knight of St. Sebastian Council No. 8009. He was a Past Faithful Navigator of the Charles Brady Assembly No. 2194, Vero Beach, Fla., and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a Past Commander of the Haywood Frazier VFW Post No. 2599 in Presque Isle, and a member of the American Legion Post No. 189 of Sebastian, Fla. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ann Goan of Sebastian, Fla.; son, David Goan of Sebastian, Fla.; daughter, Judith Severin of Sebastian, Fla.; sisters, Helen Bouchard of Portland, Kathleen Kingston of Lebanon, N.H.; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, Fla. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian, Fla. Entombment will follow in Fountainhead Memorial Park, Palm Beach, Fla., with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post No. 189, VFW Post No. 10210, P.L.A.V. Post No. 210, all of Sebastian, Fla. Memorials may be made to the Brevard Association for Advancement of the Blind, in care of Shirley Hall, 7985 126th St., Sebastian, FL 32958, in memory of Mr. Goan.
