MARS HILL – Kermit A. Bridges, 89, died Nov. 4, 2003, at a Westfield boarding home. He was born April 15, 1914, in Mars Hill, the son of Humphrey and Emly Bridges. Kermit, a lifelong resident of Mars Hill, farmed there for many years. He enjoyed horse pulling, hunting, fishing, camping and bingo. He is survived by two sons, Vaughn of Mars Hill and Leslie and his wife, Madelene, of Littleton; five grandchildren, Brent and his wife, Annie, of Ovido, Fla., Kent of Alexandria, Va., Lisa of Plano, Texas, Jon and his wife, Tammi, of Bangor, Brady and his wife, Heidi, of Norridgewock, several great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Roberta and her husband, Ray, of Caribou and Doris Guiggey; several nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, including a special niece, Hilda Bridges. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Lena (Guiggey) Bridges. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at the Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the service at King’s Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in Kermit’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
