BANGOR and HOLDEN Laura Ada Hutchings, 91, wife of the late Carl Hutchings, died peacefully Aug. 15, 2007, at a Bangor health care center. She was born April 26, 1916, in Brewer, daughter of Irving E. and Laura G. (Wiswell) White. She was very active all her life with her husband of 49 1/2 years; they enjoyed sailing, their camp on Holbrook Pond and square dancing. Ada had been a hairdresser in her younger years. She was a member of Hammond Street Congregational Church, Garden and Nature Clubs, Bangor, and was an avid bird watcher. Surviving are her nephews, Sheldon White and his wife, Paula, of Yarmouth, James White and his wife, Marty, of Holden; great-nieces and great-nephews; sister-in-law, Nina White of Brewer; a very loving, caring and longtime friend, Lorraine C. Catell and her husband, Brian, of Bangor. A funeral service will be held noon Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Marion L. Hopkins, Sabbatical Pastor of Hammond Street Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be at Hillrest Cemetery, Holden. Friends may call 11 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
