GREENVILLE – Laura L. (Defore) Parent, 91, died Oct. 14, 2003, peacefully at her home with her friends by her side. She was born July 17, 1912, in Rockwood, the daughter of Frank and Myrtle (Elgin) Defore. She was loved by many and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. She was a school teacher at Northeast Carry and Rockwood. She was a postmaster in Rockwood for 32 years until she retired in 1972. She was a communicant for many years at the St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rockwood. She is survived by a step-sister, Estelle Tyler of Randolph; and a step-brother, Stan Coutts of Gardiner; special friends, Dana and Nancy Budden, Rhinda Hanson, Rachel Chase, Norma Whitten, and Juanita Mason. She was predeceased by her parents and her loving husband, Alfred Parent. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003 at McCrory Funeral Home in Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at the St. Joseph’s Church in Rockwood. Burial will follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery in Rockwood.
