ROCKWOOD – Laura Munster Douglass, precious mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend, on Nov. 7, 2004, passed on to be with her family and her beloved first husband, Michael, who died May 4, 1997. She is at peace and happy once more, please share in her joy of being reunited with her first love. More than anything in this world Laura loved her children, their life, their laughter, and their spirits, and to this end she has left the following words: Along with her love of Mike, Laura is survived by their children, who gave her the greatest joy in her life, Misti, Jodi, Michael Jr., and Jason, of Rockwood. May they always feel their parents’ love and admiration for them. We are so proud of you. Our love will forever encompass your lives, as you were our greatest creations. Laura lived with kindness, sympathy, compassion, forgiveness, and love. She was exceptionally gentle and graced with the gift of seeing the potential for growth in all people. Her love of love produced in her a penchant for treating every child she ever met as her own. She thought that every living being deserved a chance and it was her purpose to see that each received it and all the love that she could possibly give. In the end Laura gave so much love to so many people that it would have been difficult for her to give any more. She leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories for those who remain, but still we will miss her tender smiles, loving embraces, unrelenting goodness, undying affection, unending understanding and forgiveness, loud laughter, shining eyes, and most of all her simple desire to love and be loved. Wherever there is a slightly too-loud laugh, a strong and humble hug, or a lovely and too lightly dropped tear there will be a feeling of Laura’s presence. In addition to her four children Laura leaves behind a husband, Alan Douglass of Rockwood; two stepchildren, Liza and Jason; sisters, Mary Bryant and Raelene Parlin; brothers, Malbert Chase and Robert Jordan; sisters-in-law, Tammy Grenier and Melissa Jordan; adopted children, Laurie Soule, Joseph Munster II, and April McCaslin; great-aunt, Margaret Davis; and a multitude of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. In addition to her first husband, Michael Sr., Laura is predeceased by her mother, Rachel Chase; the uncle who raised her, Malcolm “Buster Calder/Unkie” Newcomb; father, Richard Jordan; and various aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends. Laura will be sadly and much missed by those she left behind, but in the end all sorrow and remorse will be eclipsed by the many fine and fond memories that endure. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Greenville. A gathering in celebration of Laura’s life will follow at the community center in Rockwood.
