FORT KENT – Laurette (Albert) Vaillancourt, 96, died peacefully April 2, 2008, at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born May 18, 1911, in St. Agatha, the daughter of Thomas and Edith (Albert) Albert. Laurette graduated from St. Agatha High School. After her attendance at Aroostook State Normal School, she taught school for several years. She was a past member of Fort Kent Extension group. She also belonged to Northern Maine Medical Center Guild since 1952, Maine Education and Retired Teacher’s Association, Ladies of St. Anne of Fort Kent, both St. Agatha and Fort Kent historical societies, and was a R.S.V.P. program member for 26 years. Laurette will be remembered as a very loving and compassionate mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always very generous to others and always there to lend a helping hand. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by one daughter, Jeannine Haley and her husband, Ron; one son, Dan Vaillancourt and his wife, Rollande, all of Fort Kent; six grandchildren, Laurie Allen and her husband, James, and their children, Elizabeth, Charles and Meredith, all of Dover, Mass., Kevin Haley and his wife, Lisa, and their children, Campbell, Abigail and Sophie, all of Yarmouth, Scott Haley and his wife, Jocelyn, and their son, Jonathan, all of Fort Kent, Kristen Chamberlain and her husband, Will, of Farmingdale, and Cassie and Carter Vaillancourt of Fort Kent. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy (Albert) Langdeau of Wolcott, Conn.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Vaillancourt, in 1997; eight brothers, Wallie, Alcide, Emile, Benoit, Louis, Raoule, Roger and Oneil Albert; and four sisters, Esther Doyle, Martha Martin, Marie Martin and Jeanne Albert. Friends may call 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday until time of service, at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring committal services will be at the parish cemetery.
