SKOWHEGAN – Ms. Laurie Jean Parker, 48, a respectful and loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend, died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Redington Memorial Hospital. She was born June 22, 1958, in Skowhegan, a daughter of Elbridge and Helen (Giles) Parker. She was a friendly woman who enjoyed being in the presence of others, meeting new people and helping others to the best of her ability. Laurie, a childhood hunter and fisher, dedicated her adult life to taking care of and entertaining family. She loved her German shepherds, the feel of a cool breeze while on her motorcycle and gambling at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. She was also a big Boston Red Sox fan. Laurie was a former and devoted employee of Dexter Shoe Co. and Irving Oil. She is survived by her mother, Helen Parker of Skowhegan; sisters, Corliss and her husband, Richard Fanjoy, of Dexter and Rhonda and her husband, Brian Cyr, of Plymouth, Conn.; four nieces, Ann, Amy and Mandi of Greensboro, N.C. and Nancy of Hampton, Va.; a nephew, Michael of Greensboro, N.C.; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. She was predeceased by her father. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 13, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter, with the Rev. Harold Wheeler officiating. Friends may call 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Maloon Cemetery, St. Albans. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crosby & Neal Funeral Home.
