LAWRENCE C. BREWSTER JR. BANGOR – Lawrence C. Brewster Jr., 83, died Feb. 22, 2007, at his residence. He was born Oct. 13, 1923, in Portland, the son of Lawrence and Mary (Casey) Brewster. Lawrence was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a World War II Army Medic serving in Europe. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was active as a past president of the letter carriers, AFLCIO union. Lawrence was a communicant of St. John’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed coaching Eastside farm and little league, and was very active in the Bangor Democratic Party. He is survived by one son, David Brewster of Bangor; two daughters, Robin Brewster of Bangor and Joanna Cullins of Oregon; six grandchildren, James, Jennifer and Sean Cullins of Oregon, Heather and Ashley Brewster of Bangor, Tomi Cookson of Calais; three sisters, Lorraine Neuts of Gorham, Mary Brown of Westbrook and Frances Sprague of Carmel; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn (McGinty) Brewster; three brothers, Neil, Ralph and Thomas; one sister, Marion; a baby sister and brother. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. A reception will be after in the parish hall of St. John’s Church after the Mass.
