DEDHAM and ELLENTON, Fla. – Lawrence E. “Larry” De-Young, husband of Joanne (Clukey) De-Young, who were married 52 years, died July 14, 2005, at EMMC after a long battle with COPD. He was born June 7, 1930, in Bangor, the son of Theresa Bartlett and Clifford DeYoung. Larry graduated from John Baptist High School in 1950. He served in the Marine Corps from 1951-1954, receiving the purple heart while serving in the Korean War. Larry retired from the State of Maine in 1990. After retirement he enjoyed wood-carving, bowling, playing bingo and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Surviving in addition to his loving wife, are his son, Lawrence DeYoung II and his wife, Lois, of Dover, N.H.; daughter, Sarah Burnham and her husband, Stephen, of Dedham; four grandchildren, Jessica and Adam DeYoung, Kelly Burnham Smith and her husband, Allen, Stephen H. Burnham Jr. and his wife, Heather; four great-grandchildren, Bradly and Nathan Smith and Jack and Isabella Burnham; and one brother Donald Roberts, Jr. Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Rudolph Leveille, officiating. Friends may call 12:30 until time of service, Monday.
