DIXMONT – Lawrence Raymond Monteith, 69, died Feb. 10, 2006, at a Bangor healthcare facility, following a long illness. He was born July 29, 1936, in Grindstone, the son of Raymond C. and Jenny (Chambers) Monteith. He was educated in schools of Littleton and a graduate of Houlton High School. For most of his working life, Lawrence was employed as an auto mechanic, working in several different states. He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Moore of Meridian Conn.; two sisters, Arlene Carter of Dixmont, whom he made his home with for the past several years and Alma Cook of Hico, Texas; a special niece, Annie Leflore of Lubbock, Texas; nephew, Hal London of Melbourne, Fla.; niece, Donna Pomeroy of Dixmont; and a good friend, Tina Asy of Dixmont. He will be missed by his special friend, his dog “Lollie”, who always went everywhere with him. At his request there are no services or public visitation.
