ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. – Lawrence Stafford, 86, died Monday at Northside Hospital. He was born in Mainstream. He and his wife moved to St. Petersburg in 1964 from Pittsfield, where he worked for Cianchette Brothers and later was a branch manager for First National Bank for eight years. He was a graduate from Maine Central Institute and of the New England Welding Laboratory in Boston. After moving to Florida, he and his owned and operated a 16 unit apartment house in Gulfport for 10 years. He was an Army Air Force Captain in World War II and a member of the Allendale United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Charlotte; three sons, Currie K. of Smyrna, Ga., Todd B. of St. Petersburg and Lane L. of Highland, Calif.; one sister, Viola Schurian of St. Petersburg; two brothers, Douglas of Augusta, and Rupert of Stillwater; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
