CRAWFORD – Leland C. “Pat” Day, 72, died Friday, July 1, 2005, at his residence. Pat was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Wesley, son of the late Rupert and Gertrude Day. He served in the U.S. Army Military Police, based in Panama. Pat married Norma Roberts in Wesley, Aug. 17, 1958. He owned and operated L.C. Day & Son Trucking Co. and Cloud 9 Inc. in Wesley. Pat was a member of American Legion Sherman Bros. Post No. 3 in Calais, the Wesley Grange, and a past member of the Wesley Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed playing cards, stock car racing, and spending time with his family. In addition to his loving wife of more than 46 years, Norma; he is survived by a son, Anthony Day of Alexander; three daughters, Debra Ayers and her husband, Wayne, of Crawford, Wendy Day-Pemberton of Jonesboro, and Melissa Gatchell and her husband, Graham, of Milford, N.H.; two sisters, Marilyn Beaupre of Robbinston and Marice Chaffee and her husband, Philip, of Calais; a brother, Truman Day and his wife, Eva, of Princeton; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. There will be no funeral services at this time. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s memory may be made to Washington County Children’s Program, Route 192, Machias, ME 04654 or the Wesley Volunteer Fire Department, care of Ivan Hawkins, Airline Road, Wesley, ME 04686.
