MADAWASKA – Leon “Reed” Cyr, 78, died Jan. 3, 2006, at a Madawaska nursing home. He was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Stockholm, the son of Joseph V. and Alice (Dionne) Cyr. He was a U.S. Army World War II and Korean War veteran and a member of the Thomas O. Cyr Legion Post No. 147 of Madawaska. He is survived by his wife, Verna (Cyr) Cyr of Madawaska; five daughters, Diane Charette and her husband, Gene, Jacqueline Chasse and her husband, Montfort, Lyne Hebert and her husband, Steven and Lise Ouellette and her fiance, John Couturier, all of Madawaska and Ann Bagley and her husband, Michael, of New Gloucester; two sons, Richard Cyr and his wife, Teresa and Allan Cyr and his wife, Brenda, all of Madawaska; two brothers, Alderic Cyr of Albany, N.Y. and Donald J. Cyr of Vernon, Conn.; one sister, Priscille Couture of Lewiston; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sons, Michael, Larry and Roger; three grandchildren; five brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and relatives may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Friday, at the Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.
