PALMYRA – Leona B. Shaw, 84, died April 28, 2004, at a Hartland healthcare facility following a long illness. She was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Plymouth, the daughter of Walter T. and E. Vera (Cooper) Morton. She was a graduate of Newport High School, Class of 1939. Leona was married to Harland L. Shaw who died Feb. 5, 1999. She was employed as a shipping clerk at Banton Brothers Mill in Newport (now Vic Firth) for 23 years, retiring in 1982. Leona loved her family and was always crocheting and sewing special things for them. She is survived by four sons and their wives, Leland and Donna Shaw of Palmyra, Francis and Hildreth Shaw of Hartland, Rodney and Carmen Shaw of Palmyra, Steven and Brenda Shaw of Hartland; two daughters, Marilyn Willey and her fianc_, Glen Dodge, of Corinna, Anita Overlock and special friend, Bonnie Pike, of Cambridge; one brother, Gerald Morton of Dover-Foxcroft; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a grandson, Dale; and four brothers, Edgar, Erwin, Clarence, and Frank. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Riverside Cemetery, Newport, with pastor Al Worden officiating.
