VAN BUREN – Leona C. Paradis, 94, died Dec. 15, 2005, at a Van Buren nursing home. She was born May 18, 1911, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Patrick and Adele (Marin) Perreault. She was employed as a clerk and department manager for W.T. Grant Co. for several years. Mrs. Paradis was a member of the Evangeline Circle Daughters of Isabella, serving as treasurer for 14 years and as vice-regent for two years. She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Van Buren and was a representative for the North American Benefit Association for more than 30 years, serving for a time as service secretary. She is survived by three sons, Donald Paradis and his wife, Bella, of Stafford, Va.; Kenneth Paradis and his wife, Gerry, of Wells, Robert Paradis and his wife, Rachel, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one daughter, Ann Avery and her husband, Ivan, of Cherry Hill, N.J.; one sister, Bertha Lemire of Manchester, N.H.; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Alban J. Paradis in 1998; one son, Daniel Paradis in 1983; and by a daughter, Elaine Cyr in 2003. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
