HOULTON – Leonard Joseph Plourde, 96, died June 11, 2006, at a local healthcare facility. He was born June 19, 1909, in Frenchville, the son of Joseph and Nathalie (Morneault) Plourde. Leonard became a Houlton resident in 1938 and was a devout member of the Saint Mary of the Visitation Church. He was a lathe operator for Atlas Plywood Company for 30 years and Houlton International for 20 years until his retirement. He was an avid bowler, fisherman, hunter and a New York Yankees fan. He also loved music. Leonard is survived by his three daughters, G. Kathleen Grass and her husband, Luther, of Monticello, B. Blanche Hornberger and her husband, Glenn of Charlton, N.Y., Annette P. Lilley and her husband, Daniel, of Portland; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Alma Grivais of Milford, Conn., Anita Manzer and her husband, Perry, of Burlington, N.J., Rita Guzze of Connecticut, Anna Ayotte and her husband, Albert, of New Britain, Conn.; two brothers, Clifford Plourde of Caribou, Gerald Plourde of Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene (Gagnon) Plourde; his grandson, David Lilley; three sisters, Eva Sleeper, Edwin Marquis, Maria Saunders; four brothers, Arthur, Lugie, Freeman and Tommy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church with the Rev. Eddy Morin celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
