CORINTH – Leota Ames, 93, the wife of the late Lloyd G. Ames Sr., died Dec. 27, 2003, at a Bangor hospital following a long period of ill health. She was born Jan. 16, 1910, in Columbia, the daughter of George and Alice (McLaughlin) Merritt. She was a former resident of Kenduskeag and had resided at the Corinthian Manor in Corinth for 24 years. She was a member of the Corinth United Methodist Church and the Kenduskeag Union Church. She is survived by three sons, Lloyd Ames Jr. and his wife, Eunice, of Kenduskeag, Charles Ames of Corinth, and Douglas Ames and his wife, Brenda, of Newark, Ohio; five daughters, Ann Lenz, Elinor Jackson, Nancy Campbell and Joyce Boone and her husband, George, all of Corinth, and Louine Sullivan and her husband, Michael, of Rockland, Mass.; one sister, Vera Willey of Cherryfield; a son-in-law, Enrique Limon Jr. of Satanta, Kan.; and daughter-in-law, Joan Ames of Merritt Island, Fla.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and a very special friend, Alice Poor of Kenduskeag. Leota was predeceased by a son, Donald; and a daughter, Evelyn Limon; a granddaughter, Lynn Boone; a sister, Georgia Nelson; three brothers, Winslow, Cecil and Stanley Merritt; and son-in-law, Ronnie Campbell. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Corinth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Pike officiating. Spring burial will be in the Kenduskeag Cemetery, Kenduskeag. Those who wish may make donations in Leota’s memory to the Corinth United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O.
