LUBEC – Lewis “Lukie” Jones, 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior Feb. 29, 2008, surrounded by his family at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 18, 1937, in Lubec, the son of Margaret “Bama” (Bridges) Jones and the late Decosta “Doc” Jones of Lubec. He married the love of his life, Mary Rogers, April 7, 1961. They were blessed with five children, Lewis Jr. “Tige,” Tamrah and her husband, Austin Dinsmore, Larry, Mark and Lindsay Davis, and Diane and Robbie Lahey; and seven grandchildren, Jordan, Reegan, Jocelyn, Demee, Torin, Olivia and Decosta. Lukie retired after 30 years of working as master electrician at Cutler Naval Base. He was an active member of Washington Lodge No. 37 of Lubec, where he was a past master and a member since 1961 and a member of Christian Temple Church. Lukie’s life was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was known by his many wonderful traits to name a few, handyman, coach, cook, taste tester, dishwasher, grampy and a true survivor. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family. He also loved baseball, basketball, playing cribbage with friends, fishing, kayaking and hunting trips to Ellis’ camp on Rocky Lake. We will sadly miss some of his traditions, summer’s at the lake with family, trips to the nursing home with Bo, Saturday morning breakfast with the boys and his walks with Bo to McFaddens. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Christian Temple Church, Lubec, with Father Alan Andraeas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Christian Temple Church, Lubec or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements by McClure Family Funeral Services of Lubec.
