BANGOR – Liford Allen Targett, 63, loving husband of Judy (Cormier) Targett, died Feb. 3, 2004, at Eastside Rehab with Judy at his side after a long illness. He was born Oct. 5, 1940, in Bangor, the son of Herbert and Winona (Calder) Targett. Al served in the U.S. Navy. He worked in various shoe shops and also drove for Town Taxi. He loved to watch NASCAR racing. He was a devoted husband and a wonderful friend to all. He was a proud stepfather and stepgrandfather. In addition to his wife, Judy, of Bangor, he is survived by a stepdaughter, who was like his own, Cheryl Fauteux and husband, Jim, of Enfield, Conn.; three wonderful stepgrandchildren, Chris, Brandon and Nicholas. He leaves many friends, including special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bell and family of East Corinth, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Hill of Hampden, Mr. Ken C. Vanleer of Stetson, and Mr. Daniel Boone of Bangor. The family extends a special thanks to the Rev. Rex Garrett, LinCare and Dr. Sara Irving, as well as all the staff and personnel at Eastside Rehab. He was predeceased by his parents and by a daughter, Cindy Marie Targett. Friends may call 5-8:30 p.m. Friday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Rex H. Garrett Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the family in care of the funeral home.
