SCOTTSBORO, Ala., and LUBEC – Lillian Thompson, 69, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 28, 2007, at a Huntsville (Ala.) hospital. Lillian was born in Lubec, the daughter of Albert “Dodie” and Clara (Wilcox) Mathews. Lillian was a 1956 graduate of Lubec High School and graduated Husson College in 1960. Lillian worked at Bar Harbor Bank, the Lubec school system and together with her husband and family, owned Thompson’s Variety, now McFadden’s. Lillian had lived in Alabama since 1982. Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Thompson; and both parents. She is survived by her children, Mary Sue Murphy and husband, Peter, of Lubec, Maureen Lord and husband, David, of Lubec, and Joseph Thompson and wife, Julie, of Brewton, (Ala.); her grandchildren, Dylan, Caleb and Spencer of Lubec and Taylor, Savannah, Allie and Shara of Alabama. Lillian will be sadly missed by her family and many good friends, both in Lubec and Scottsboro, Ala. A springtime memorial in Lubec is being planned. Donations may be made to the Ark Animal Shelter or the Scottsboro (Ala.) Animal Shelter.
