LILLIAN BESSIE REYNOLDS BROOKSVILLE – Lillian Bessie (Ladd) Reynolds passed away at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Oct. 2, joining loved ones who had gone before her. The second of October was significant in her life, as it was the birth date of both the first and last of her children, the first having been lost in childbirth. Lillian was born on Jan. 27, 1927, in Brooksville. She graduated from Brooksville High School in 1945. Lillian was an avid reader and collector and loved animals, especially cats. She had many collections, from unicorns to Elvis memorabilia. She enjoyed spending time with her family, often saying her children were her greatest gifts. Lillian is survived by her husband of 57 years, James L. Reynolds; and five of their six children, Alberta Reynolds, Norma Reynolds Allen, Ralph Reynolds and wife, Debra, Robert Reynolds and wife, Robin, and H. Richard Reynolds. Lillian was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great great granddaughter and was looking forward to the birth of five additional great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first-born son, James; her grandson, Richard H. Allen Jr.; and two great grandsons. Lillian also leaves behind four brothers; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and was predeceased by her mother; stepfather; and one brother. The family would like to offer very special thanks to Hospice volunteers, Judy Fletcher and Lydia Osgood, who provided care, compassion, and loving support to the very last moment. Thanks also to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital nurses and staff for their compassionate care. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at the Edgewood Cemetery in Brooksville, with the Rev. Charles Mason officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice at Hancock County Homecare, 57 Water St., Blue Hill, ME 04614. Arrangements are under the care of Cremation Services of Maine, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
