BREWER and BANGOR – Llewellyn Winship Hewey, 80, went home to be with his Lord, Nov. 6, 2003, at Concord, N.H. He was born May 28, 1923, at Reed Plantation, the son of Harley and Levina (Merrill) Hewey. Pete was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served as a medic during World War II. He had worked as a logger and for many years was a truck driver with Graham’s Express in Lincoln and Cole’s Express of Bangor. After retiring he enjoyed working as a self-employed landscaper and handyman. Pete was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He leaves a legacy of being a hard working Christian man, devoting many years to Calvary Baptist Church of Brewer. He is survived by two sons, Cary Hewey and his wife, Trudy, of Bridgewater and Keith Hewey of Brewer; two daughters, Colleen Bradbury and her husband, Robert, of Concord, N.H., and Jody Holmes and her husband, Danny, of Bangor; one brother, Lawrence “Larry” Hewey of Shapleigh; three sisters, Evelyn Briggs of Wytopitlock, Susie Pappas of Florida and Charlene Robins of Sebago; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Avis (White) Hewey in 1995. A funeral service will be held 12 noon, Monday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden with the Rev. Dick Woehr, director of Inter-Church Ministries officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at noon Monday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
