LIMESTONE – Lloyd Edwards Collins, 72, beloved husband of Laversa (Montgo-mery) Collins, died Sept. 12, 2004, at a Caribou healthcare facility after a brief illness. He was born July 5, 1932, at Marietta, S.C., the son of James and Essile (Knox) Collins. Lloyd was a 20-year military veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. For the past 34 years he had been a Limestone resident, where he was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Obar-Phair Post American Legion No.127. He is survived by his wife of Limestone, two sons, John Collins of Caswell, Edward Collins of Rochester, N.Y.; three daughters, Peggy Barnes and her husband, Tom, of Limestone, Betty Shaw of South China, Judy Peterson and her husband, Greg, of Shaw AFB, S.C.; one brother, Ralph Collins and his wife, Doris, of Southfolk, Va.; four sisters, Evelyn Thompson of Duluth, Calif., Helen Tucker and her husband, Pete, of Marietta, S.C., Lucille Rothell and her husband, Jack, of Florence, S.C., Ruth Rohrabaugh and her husband, Bill of Greenville, S.C.; eight grandchildren, TJ and Ryan Barnes, both of Limestone, Steve Shaw of South China, Jessica and Zachery Collins of Washington state, Clinton and Kyle Peterson both of Shaw AFB, S.C., Joshua Collins of Michigan. He was predeceased by one brother, Willard Collins Graveside committal services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Military committal services will be performed by the officers and members of the Obar-Phair Post American Legion No. 127 of Limestone. Following the services there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments at the family residence, 14 Montgomery St., Limestone. Donations in Lloyd’s memory may be made to the Cary Medical Center, Oncology Department. Envelopes will be available at the hospital or from the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou.
